Summary

Movie sequence from Vienna created in summer 1938 by the American physician and amateur filmmaker Dr. Lafayette P. Monson on his round-the-world-trip. First scene shows a billboard with stereotype caricature of a Jew and the text “Judentum ist Verbrechertum. Lest die Stürmer-Sondernummer” (Jewry is Criminality. Read the Stürmer special issue) in front of the Vienna opera house. Following parts showcase antisemitic smearings on a Jewish café and Jewish shops at Nestroyplatz in Vienna's 2nd district (the former Jewish quarter). The movie sequence was shot on 16mm Kodachrome and is therefore originally in color. This movie is part of the collection: Prelinger Archives
