| Description | This video documents extensive research on myasthenia gravis, most of which resulted from studying its effect on animals. The presenter depended on the chemistry and physiology of the electric organs of fishes as well as experimental autoimmune myasthenia gravis studied in rats. The research culminated in new discoveries such as evolving diagnostic tests, the role of the thymus, and complement involvement. Antibody tests are also evolving. The four relevant models identified are experimental autoimmune myasthenia gravis, passive transfer of myasthenia gravis antibodies, intoxication with alpha neurotoxin, and experimental autoimmune thymitis.
