Summary

Description (Critical) This program illustrates the techniques of anterior proctosigmoidectomy with colo-rectal anastomosis and removal of gall stone. A former noted colo-rectal surgeon of the Cleveland Clinic, Dr. Turnbull, describes his technique in detail, and supports the demonstration with an explanation of his rationale. This standard operation of lesions of the mid and upper rectum, is well described and illustrated, but the production is too long; careful attention is necessary to distinguish the salient points. Without having the patient's history, x-rays, and the major points of emphasis, the gastroenterologist or internist might have difficulty with this instruction. The program is recommended with reservationsfor surgeons familiar with colon surgery. Credits: Rupert B. Turnbull.
