Summary
| Description | On June 2, NASA Administrator Bill Nelson and others attended the Apollo 1 Monument Dedication at Arlington National Cemetery, in Virginia. The event was hosted by the Challenger Center and the Aerospace Industries Association to acknowledge the completion of the Apollo 1 Monument, which honors and memorializes the Apollo 1 crew – astronauts Gus Grissom, Ed White and Roger Chaffee – and others who lost their lives in support of NASA’s mission of exploration and discovery. This monument ensures that the public recognizes the Apollo 1 crew as integral to the successes of the Apollo program and the continued exploration of space for the benefit of humanity. Some portions of the footage are silent. Includes soundbites from Lowell Grissom, the brother of Apollo 1 Commander Virgil I. "Gus" Grissom, and Sheryl Chaffee, the daughter of Apollo 1 astronaut Roger Chaffee. |
