| Description | This film demonstrates step-by-step removal of an inflamed appendix. The film shows the following: the incision one inch medial to the anterior superior iliac spine; the splitting of the internal oblique and transversus to peritoneum; the retraction of muscles superiorly and inferiorly to expose the peritoneum; the nicking of the peritoneum; the tying of the meso appendix with catgut; the separation of meso appendix at the base; the suturing across the base of the meso appendix; catgut ligature at crushed area of appendix; appendix removal; stump cauterized and inverted; and suturing of the peritoneum, transversus and internal and external oblique.
