Nicht nur als grünes Ausflugsziel und wichtiger Bestandteil unseres Ökosystems ist der Wald von Bedeutung. Der Wald ist ein zentraler regionaler wie globaler Wirtschaftsfaktor als Rohstofflieferant und Arbeitsplatz. Forstwirtschaft ist ein hochkomplexes System, in dem Ökonomie und Ökologie berücksichtigt werden. Der volkskundlich-kulturanthropologische Dokumentarfilm stellt die Menschen vor Ort ins Zentrum: Förster, Forstwirte und Auszubildende im Forstbetriebsbezirk Zweifall, Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeiter zweier regionaler Sägewerke sowie Menschen, die sich ehrenamtlich im "Museumssägewerk Stolberg-Zweifall"engagieren, wurden bei ihrem Arbeitsalltag im Wald und im Sägewerk begleitet. Sie erzählen von ihrer Arbeit, von technischem Wandel und der Bedeutung des Waldes. Deutlich wird dabei die Faszination für den Forst als Arbeitswelt sowie die wirtschaftliche, ökologische und ortsgeschichtlich
