Summary

Description (Critical) Rather than a discussion of only cardiac muscle, as its title indicates, this program is a complete overview of the gross anatomy of the heart, its coverings and conduction system. Excellent use of both diagrams and real specimens result in a very effective teaching module. The histology of the endocardium is covered in much less detail than that of the epicardium and pericardium, weakening the material's consistency. The brief light microscopy of cardiac muscle did not include an oil immersion photomicrograph of heart muscle as seen in cross-section. However, as a whole, this tape is well presented and is highly recommended for use. Credits: A. L. chapman, M. P. Mohn.
