Summary
Composer and percussionist Tyshawn Sorey of the Tyshawn Sorey Trio and Ian Rosenbaum of Sandbox Percussion speak with the Library’s Mike Turpin and David Plylar. The conversation opens with a brief presentation on Max Roach, whose centennial is being celebrated by their performance, including a clip of Roach speaking about his first gig with Duke Ellington. The artists speak about their different sets inspired by Max Roach, as well as a new commission by Tyshawn Sorey that joins the two ensembles to close the concert.
