Summary

Description (Critical) This program demonstrates the barium swallow characteristics of esophageal diverticulum. The surgical exposure of the esophageal diverticulum is then presented in a stepwise fashion with pertinent neurovascular anatomy clearly identified. The neck of the esophageal diverticulum between the oblique fibers of the inferior constrictor muscles and transverse fibers of the circopharyngeous muscle is clearly identified a circopharyngeal myotomy is also performed. The presentation is well organized, methodically portrayed, and is highly recommended as a valuable adjunct to those involved with head and neck surgery. Credits: F. Griffith Pearson.
