Summary

Description (Critical) This program presents an interview with Dr. Robert Cancro, an authority on schizophrenia. Diagnosis and genetic determinant are covered and the program focuses on psychosocial treatment. A biosocial model of schizophrenia, theetiology, and current areas of research are discussed. Considerable knowledge of the field of psychotic illness is presupposed, and medical terminology is not defined. The need for a variety of treatment approaches for this disorder is emphasized. The conversation is well organized, articulate, but covers these subjects cursorily, with a minimum of detail. Basically this is a question and answer format. The title is somewhat misleading, content centers mostly on the relationship of genetics to schizophrenia. This program is recommended for use. Credits: Robert Cancro.
