Summary
| Description | (Critical) This program reviews normal findings in examining the head and discusses pathological conditions such as nicrocephalus, hydrocephalus, Padgett's Disease, agromegaly, involuntary movements and abnormal hair distribution. A demonstration of palpation of the cranium and maxillary sinuses and auscultation of cranial bruits is included. The presentation also outlines surface landmarks and anatomical structures of the neck and discusses inspection for evidence of asymmetry, masses, abnormal pulsations and an enlarged thyroid. Milking of the jugular to detect regurgitation; hepatojugular reflex; palpation of the thyroid gland; and auscultation of the carotid arteries and thyroid gland are demonstrated. Thecontent is well organized and logically presented. Thus, the program is recommended for nursing and medical students, nurse practitioners, physicians' assistants, and clinical nurse specialists.
