| Description | RUSSIAN CARGO SHIP LAUNCHES TO THE SPACE STATION A Russian cargo ship lifted off from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan Dec. 6, bound on a three-day journey to deliver almost three tons of food, fuel and supplies to the residents of the International Space Station. The ISS Progress 74 cargo craft launched atop a Russian Soyuz 2.1a booster, arriving in its preliminary orbit less than nine minutes later. The Progress vehicle is scheduled to make an automated docking to the station Dec. 9, linking up to the Pirs Docking Compartment on the Russian segment of the orbital outpost. |
