Summary
| Description | COMMERCIAL CARGO SHIP ARRIVES AT THE INTERNATIONAL SPACE STATION The unpiloted Northrop Grumman Cygnus cargo ship arrived at the International Space Station Feb. 22, flawlessly completing a two-day journey following its launch to deliver more than four tons of supplies and scientific experiments for the Expedition 64 crew. Dubbed the “SS Katherine Johnson” after the noted NASA mathematician made famous in the movie “Hidden Figures”, Cygnus was captured by Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency astronaut Soichi Noguchi using the station’s Canadian-built robotic arm, after which ground controllers took over to install Cygnus to the Earth-facing port of the Unity module where it will reside until late May. Cygnus was launched Feb. 20 atop a Northrop Grumman Antares rocket from the Wallops Flight Facility, Virginia. |
