Summary
NASA's Lucy spacecraft lifted off aboard a United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station's Space Launch Complex 41 in Florida at 5:34 a.m. EDT on Oct. 16, 2021. Over the course of 12 years, the spacecraft will visit a record-breaking number of asteroids, including one in the solar system's main belt and seven Trojan asteroids. The mission will provide researchers and scientists with a glimpse into the origins of our solar system. NASA's Launch Services Program based at Kennedy Space Center managed the launch.
