| Description | Expedition 10 crew members Commander Leroy Chiao and Flight Engineer Salizhan Sharipov settled into their new home aboard the International Space Station as they prepared to celebrate a milestone. November 2 marks the 4th anniversary of continuous international human presence in orbit aboard the ISS. It was on that day that the three-man Expedition 1 crew took up residence on the orbiting laboratory. Commander William M. Shepherd, Soyuz Pilot Yuri P. Gidzenko and Flight Engineer Sergei Krikalev spent 136 days as the initial 'shake down' crew. Four years later, the station remains the largest, most sophisticated and powerful spacecraft ever built. The current Expedition 10 crew took over October 24, and during the first week as the resident crew, worked with several science experiments.
