Summary

Description MS. STILSON: Patrick from Corpus Christi states, I know that the flight crew has had at least three years of training for this mission. But how much time has the launch control team spent in prelaunch simulations for this mission? MR. LYONS: Well, like the crew, we've been training over the last two and a half, three years. And the way we do that is, we perform launch countdown simulations. And we get the entire launch team together in the firing room. We also work with the flight control team. We run through countdowns. And what we'll do is, we'll insert or introduce problems into the countdown that give us an opportunity to work and solve those so that if those same problems are encountered during the countdown, we can react quickly and with professional ability. So the team has been training for two and a half years. We're ready to go and, again, very excited.
