Summary

Description MS. STILSON: James from Miami wants to know, what are the alternate landing fields if the STS-114 cannot make to it the Cape? MR. LYONS: Well, we actually have landing fields for ascent, when we're going up into orbit, and also during re-entry, when we're coming back down. For ascent, we have three landing sites. We refer to them as Trans-Atlantic Landing sites. And they're located over in Europe. We have two in Spain and a new one in France. During re-entry, we have what we call Continental United States landing sites. We have our primary landing site, of course, here at the Kennedy Space Center. And we also have a landing site in California and New Mexico.
