Summary
NASA astronaut Mark Vande Hei installs cards into the TangoLab-4 facility for the Protein-Based Artificial Retina Manufacturing investigation. This study by LambdaVision uses microgravity to manufacture a high quality artificial retina thin film assembled layer-by-layer. The investigation also assesses the function and stability of a key protein in the film following exposure to microgravity for three and six months, which could provide important information for future layer-by-layer manufacturing efforts. Video without sound.
