Summary

Description Power requirements necessitated partial impoundment of the Kentucky Reservoir during the late summer of 1944. Emergency malaria control measures were implemented at this time, and the Tennessee Valley Authority and US Public Health Service spearheaded public education programs. Mosquito-proofing was applied to approximately 1,200 dwellings by field crews of 8 to 10 carpenters, a foreman, and a driver. Houses in high density anopheline areas were sprayed with insecticide.
