| Description | NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center welcomed Dr. Mamoru “Mark” Mohri, former NASDA astronaut and the first Japanese astronaut to fly on the space shuttle, as a featured guest for its Asian American & Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander Heritage Month event on May 10, 2023, in Marshall’s Activities Building 4316. Mohri participated in a panel discussion, sharing his experience on the space shuttle mission with the Marshall workplace. Mohri was also reunited with team members on the panel he worked with during his time with space shuttle, including retired NASA Astronaut Robert “Hoot” Gibson, who served as commander on the space shuttle and Marshall’s Tia Ferguson. Mohri is a former astronaut for the National Space Development Agency or NASDA, now known as the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA). |
