Summary

Description (Critical) The module, part of a series on the aging face, clearly demonstrates a surgical technique for a facelift. The importance of the platysmal muscle, SMAS, and fat excision in the neck are discussed. Pre- and post-operative photographs illustrate concepts emphasized in the technical demonstration. More detail regarding incisions and judgement in adjusting the skin excision and closure, and a discussion of local anesthesia would increase the educational value of this program. This well-designed, effective presentation of some current facelifting techniques is highly recommended. Credits: Rex A. Peterson.
