Summary
| Description | The oceanographic vessel Thalassa , delivered in 1996, is a 75-metre long vessel whose major activity focuses on population ecology and the assessment of species exploited in the English Channel, Bay of Biscay and North Sea. Equipped for these surveys with fishery sounders and equipped with a trawling capacity, it was nevertheless designed as a multi-purpose vessel capable of carrying out physical oceanography surveys. Since its modernization in 2017, it has been able to carry out geoscience campaigns or deploy the HROV Ariane . It accommodates up to 25 scientists and technicians and works mainly in the Atlantic and Mediterranean. Its primary missions concern fisheries: population ecology; assessment of exploited species; study of the spatiotemporal distribution of resources; techniques for capturing and processing products. Its missions also cover physical oceanography and the implementation of the Victor 6000 remotely operated vehicle. |
