Summary
NASA and SpaceX teamed up to bring comprehensive coverage on test day events, preparation and the test expectations for SpaceX’s In-Flight Abort Test as part of NASA’s Commercial Crew Program. Coverage occurred from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center on the east coast of Florida and SpaceX’s headquarters in Hawthorne, CA. The test occurred at 10:30a.m. EST on Sunday, January 19 from historic Launch Complex 39A at the Kennedy Space Center. It was conducted to demonstrate Crew Dragon’s ability to safely escape the Falcon 9 rocket in the event of a failure during launch. This was one of SpaceX’s final major tests before astronauts fly aboard the Crew Dragon spacecraft launched by a Falcon 9 rocket to the International Space Station.
