Summary
[edit]| Description | English: This water source is now known as "The Spout" by the locals, because there used to be a spout feeding the water. It was apparently also considered a holy well in the past, according to accounts from the Schools' Collection. There is an association with St. Moling, the same saint as in Saint Mullins. The Spout is curiously almost on an exact Westerly line from St. Moling's Well in St. Mullins. The Spout is not an actual spring, but the water seems to be running down from further up the hill along the townland boundary between Ballinvarry and Ballinvarry (Irish). The video shows the viewpoint looking over the Barrow. The Spout is audible from the car park there and easy to find following the sound. |
