English: The Isidore String Quartet’s meteoric rise to acclaim began with their formation at Juilliard in 2019 and continued with a win at the Banff International String Quartet Competition in 2022 and an Avery Fisher Career Grant in 2023. A portion of the concert was dedicated to arrangements of music by J.S. Bach and Johannes Brahms by Isidore’s violist Devin Moore. They then celebrated a pair of great opus eighteens, including the final B-flat-major quartet of Beethoven’s op. 18 collection (his first venture into the genre), and one of Brahms’ first major chamber works, his op. 18 string sextet. For this special Stradivari Anniversary concert, the quartet was joined by violist Misha Amory and cellist Nina Lee for a performance of Brahms’ first sextet, held in manuscript at the Library, with all performers using Stradivari instruments, including the recently acquired “Fulton, ex Baird, Tuscan-Medici” 1690 Stradivari viola.
