Summary

Following liftoff aboard the Space Launch System on Nov. 16, the uncrewed Orion capsule flew behind the Moon and completed an outbound powered flyby burn on Nov. 21 using the Orbital Maneuvering System engine. The outbound powered flyby burn sets the stage for the upcoming Distant Retrograde Orbit (DRO) insertion. Orion is in the midst of a 25 day test flight as part of the Artemis I mission to test out key components ahead of a crewed launch.
