Summary

Description Antibiotics are valuable tools for treating infections, but any antibiotic use—for people, animals, or crops—can lead to resistance. Some parts of the world cannot access antibiotics when they need them, while some countries overuse and misuse antibiotics. To save lives and combat antibiotic resistance, we must reduce unnecessary use of antibiotics, improve access when antibiotics are needed, implement and measure antibiotic stewardship programs, and track antibiotic use and use the data to advance solutions.
