| Description | This film examines the incidence of tuberculosis in various sections of the United States along with efforts to bring about its eradication or control. Scenes include: the Washington, D.C. Census Bureau interior, with statistics on tuberculosis deaths; the New York headquarters of the National Tuberculosis Association; educational and promotional media; and the earliest sanitoria in the United States, including interior shots of beds, kitchen facilities, and other rooms. Pneumothorax treatment is shown, as is a community clinic that diagnoses people, a public health nurse visiting homes checking for tuberculosis, a doctor-and-nurse team working in a rural area with trailer and X-ray equipment, slum areas with heavy exposure to tuberculosis, and comparative mortality rates between African-Americans and whites, and professional and unskilled industrial workers.
