Summary
| Description | NASA conducts a successful developmental test of RS-25 engine No. 0528 on the A-1 Test Stand at Stennis Space Center, near Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, on July 29, 2016. NASA is testing RS-25 engines at Stennis to help power launches of the new Space Launch System (SLS) rocket on missions to the Moon and, eventually, Mars. Four RS-25 engines will launch SLS, generating a combined 1.6 million pounds of thrust. The July 29 hot fire featured a test of a new RS-25 engine controller, needed to facilitate communication between the engine and SLS rocket. |
