Summary

Description (Critical) This program compares fixed, Wright-stained blood smears with phase contrast observed movies of five living leukocytes. Detailed familiarity with the cell examples and cell culture techniques is assumed. The material is restricted to morphology and the phase contrast medium is inadequately explained. Rather than providing specific information, this module highlights the concept that the living leukocyte is both mobile and motile in contrast to the fixed and stained cells of the usual blood smear preparations. This lecture is recommended with reservations for use. Credits: John Lhotka.
