Summary
| Description | (Producer) In commemoration of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, the talk includes a brief description of the history and characteristics of various Asian American groups in the United States. In addition, the concept of the 'model minority', which has often been used to describe Asian Americans and their health, will also be examined. Findings from the health needs assessment of 13 Asian American communities in Montgomery County, Maryland as well as findings from a community-based participatory research project aimed at preventing liver cancer in Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese communities in Maryland are presented.
