Description The Chechen language is the language of the Chechen people, one of the official languages of the Chechen Republic and DagestanChechen is spoken in the Chechen Republic, Ingushetia, Khasavyurtovsky, Novolaksky, Kazbekovsky, Babayurtovsky, Kizilyurtovsky districts of Dagestan, Mozdoksky district of North Ossetia, some villages in Akhmetsky district of Georgia, partly in Jordan, etc. According to the 2021 census, the number of its speakers in Russia was 1,493,748.
Chechen is the third most widely spoken language in Russia (after Russian and Tatar). It is the state language of Chechnya (along with Russian) and one of the state and literary languages of Dagestan.
Chechen is part of the Nakh-Dagestani language group, of which it is the most numerous in terms of the number of speakers.
Chechen is the language of regional newspapers in Chechnya (Daimokhk, the radio newspaper Chechnya Svobodnaya, and several others) and Dagestan (Niyso-Dagestan). The literary and art magazines Orga and Vainakh
