Summary

Description (Critical) This program presents a basic definition of sensitometry and discusses contrast and density. The anatomy of film characteristics is also considered. The presentation is well done and meets its objectives. Thus, the program isrecommended as an introduction to the subject for radiologic technology students. This is a detailed overview of basic sensitometry, or the scientific study of light-sensitive materials. Density and contrast in the images are discussed, and methods of calculation are outlined in great detail. Through analyzing the shades of gray in radiographs, doctors can often discern exactly what is right or wrong with the patient. Several different x-rays are used throughout the presentation as examples of this. Credits: William E. J. McKenney, Thomas T. Thompson, Cynthia C. Kirby.
