Summary

Description Science Educator Emily Schaller hosts an introduction to NASA's Hurricane and Severe Storm Sentinel or HS3 mission at NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia. Between 2012 and 2014, NASA researchers used two Global Hawk drones to collect data about severe weather systems in the Atlantic Ocean. The aircraft can fly up to 30 hours and collects real-time data while monitoring developing storms and hurricanes. This research is helping refine the prediction of storm and hurricane growth.
