Summary

Description (Critical) This program presents an in-depth, inclusive, detailed discussion of various vascular complications of diabetes, with visual aids to provide understanding of cellular effects such as microangiopathy. Neuropathy and its manifestations are considered. Some attention is also given to treatment modalities. The presentation is well done, however, nursing implications are not covered. Despite this difficulty, the program is recommended as a review for nurse practitioners. This program provides the audience with brief overviews of several complications that may result from diabetes. Examples of these complications include peripheral neuropathy, atrophy, gastric dysfunction, and diabetic diarrhea. There are many viable treatments and therapies for these complications, but early detection is vital. Images of diabetic patients as well as informational slides are presented. Credits: Lois Recker.
